I fought the urge to join Facebook for ages, but eventually, I caved when I needed it for work. Now? I’m scrolling through it all day! However, there are definitely some things I wish I could filter out to make my time on the platform less cringeworthy. Let’s dive in—don’t worry, the good stuff is coming!
Animal Suffering
I truly admire my friends who advocate for the welfare of animals—be it livestock, pets, or wildlife. Your efforts are commendable! But when I’m taking a breather from work and trying to enjoy funny videos or delicious food pics, I really don’t want to see graphic images of abused animals. If you promise to spare me the visuals, I’ll read the articles!
Bugs
I have a serious fear of insects. So please, no close-up shots of creepy crawlies. Bees are an exception; I find them fascinating, just not when they’re buzzing around me.
Spiders
What’s with the sudden influx of spider content? I never clicked on that horrifying video of the giant spider exploding into a swarm of tiny ones, yet somehow, I ended up seeing it. And now, I hear it’s raining spiders in Australia? Enough with the eight-legged nightmares!
Adam Sandler
I can’t help it; I’m just not a fan. When I see polls about his movies, let’s just say my response isn’t fit for public consumption.
Heartbreaking Stories About Children
As a parent, I can’t bear to watch intense shows like SVU anymore, let alone read about real-life tragedies involving kids. It’s just too much for me.
Repetitive Content
Remember the “dress debate”? I swear it popped up in my feed every three posts! Wouldn’t it be great if we could limit repeated stories or group them like search results on Google? I was over that dress the first time I saw it.
The Kardashians
I think there might actually be a filter for this now!
Posts That Make Me Feel Inadequate
I’ve already ranted about this, but seriously, can we stop with the constant reminders that I’m doing everything wrong? It’s just depressing!
Mombods and Dadbods
No more, please.
Kale Snacks
Honestly, I find kale repulsive, and I’m ready for the world to agree with me!
Now for the Good Stuff!
Here are some delightful things I always love to see in my feed:
Adorable Animal Photos and Videos
I’m all for cute critters—domestic and wild alike!
Gorgeous, Mouthwatering Food
Yes, I’m that person who never tires of food pics!
Uplifting Random Stories
I adore those tales of kindness—like cops paying for groceries instead of making arrests or strangers helping each other out. There were so many heartwarming stories from Baltimore that I wish everyone could have seen, especially alongside the bad ones.
Bizarre Criminals Getting Caught
Like the guy who was nabbed after “liking” his own wanted poster on Facebook. Classic!
James Franco Updates
They never fail to entertain!
So there you have it! A mix of things I could do without and the delightful content that keeps me coming back for more.
