Do I want my kids to ace their exams and fill their schedules with activities to get into a top college? Do I aspire for them to become wealthy doctors or lawyers in the future? After some thoughtful consideration, I realize that true success isn’t measured by grades or income. Ultimately, my goal is for my children to feel valued and engaged. I want them to build healthy relationships that uplift and inspire them.
Throughout my journey as a father, I’ve learned that one of the most crucial things I can do is to demonstrate healthy relationships for my kids. The way my partner and I handle life together will shape what our children seek in their own relationships. This is why it’s essential to show them a solid partnership at home. Of course, partnerships can take many shapes and mean different things to different people. For me, it starts with the everyday tasks around the house.
This is precisely why I was thrilled to collaborate with Swiffer and fellow dads on the #SwifferDad campaign. On a practical level, I’m a big fan of the Swiffer WetJet because my kids and I have a blast using it (we might overspray a bit, but it’s all in good fun!), and it makes cleaning our floors quick and painless.
On a broader scale, I believe this campaign is significant because it showcases families modeling healthy partnerships for their children. Household chores aren’t just mom’s responsibility. It’s a family endeavor, and increasingly, dads are stepping up to show the kids that everyone pitches in when it comes to managing the daily tasks of a growing family.
Check out the #SwifferDad video featuring myself and some fantastic dads I’ve gotten to know recently. You’ll also want to watch the interview with Carl Weston, who was the creative director for this project. Carl stars in one of my favorite shows, Family Matters, and he takes his role in parenting very seriously.
While I was compensated for my involvement in this Swiffer video campaign, all opinions are my own. I never collaborate with or promote companies that don’t align with my values, so you can trust it’s all good! In summary, it’s vital for dads to take an active role in household responsibilities. This not only helps create a balanced home life but also provides valuable lessons in partnership and teamwork for our children.
