Moms, It’s Time to Treat Yourself to the New Elsa Makeup Palette!

Last week, Disney unveiled its latest Frozen-inspired beauty collection called “Snow and Ice,” which prominently showcases Elsa’s stunning blue eyes and rosy lips. As a mom who donned an Elsa costume for Halloween to entertain my kids, I must admit: that frosty queen has some serious makeup magic going on. As a fellow blue-eyed blonde, I turned to Pinterest for a tutorial to recreate her look and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Friends who spotted me out and about, wrangling my sugar-high kids, initially chuckled at my outfit but quickly complimented my makeup!

Intrigued by the buzz, I headed over to Walgreens to check out the goodies. I found the e.l.f. Snow and Ice Beauty Book, the Glow Eyeshadow set, the Icicle Face Palette, Icing Eyeshadow & Eyeliner, and Super Glossy Lip Shine in Kiss Pink. Oh, and I couldn’t resist a sparkly headband (because, well, sparkles!). All that came to about $34, giving me a fantastic collection of 18 eyeshadow shades, 2 eyeliners, a bronzer, blush, 2 highlighters, 2 lip glosses, and an eyeshadow brush. Not too shabby for a mom’s beauty haul!

As I looked around the store, I saw no signs of kids’ items—no dolls, dress-up outfits, or plastic trinkets. I was just a 39-year-old woman shopping for beauty products, and it felt great. When I approached the counter, the cashier, probably in her late twenties, practically squealed over my purchases. “I used to have the Princess Jasmine collection, and I bought it all! The colors are gorgeous, and it’s so affordable! You’re going to love this,” she said. I was shocked to discover that Disney-themed makeup for adults was a thing, and she confirmed it right away.

Once home, I dove into the Beauty Book that some say could corrupt our daughters. With step-by-step guides for creating either an “Elsa the Princess” or “Elsa the Snow Queen” look, I opted for the Princess. The colors applied easily, and even though I typically skip eyeliner, I followed the instructions and added a touch around my lash line. Up until then, I thought my little girl might enjoy this palette for playtime. But as soon as I added my mascara, I transformed into Princess Elsa-Kim!

After removing that makeup, I moved on to create a fresh daytime look that’s perfect for moms and little princesses alike. Halfway through applying a subtly sparkly gel shadow, I realized there was no way I could let this treasure end up in my kid’s dress-up bin. Unlike the usual kid-friendly makeup that’s all glitter and candy scents, this collection is designed for adults. It may feature a cartoon character on the packaging, but the quality deserves to be treated with care and respect—not tossed into a playroom.

A quick glance at YouTube reveals that many women are sharing tutorials on how to apply this collection, which further solidifies my belief that this is one treat we can keep for ourselves. Sorry, kiddos! Now I just need to find a secret hiding spot for my newfound makeup stash, because sharing might be a nice thought, but letting it go? Not happening!
