- Is Anyone Else Tired of This Nonsense?

Every morning, I wrestle my kiddos into their car seats, and off we go to preschool and kindergarten, jamming to the latest Top 40 hits. We tune in to whatever’s playing, and as long as it’s upbeat and catchy, we’re all smiles. I don’t get hung up on the lyrics; my little ones are so young that they often miss the double meanings and stumble over the words anyway. At home, our dance party playlist includes some cheeky tracks (Katy Perry’s “Peacock” and Icona Pop’s “I Love It” are definite crowd-pleasers). Once, I even burned a CD for the daycare, blissfully unaware that I’d selected the explicit versions instead of the radio-friendly ones—definitely not one of my proudest parenting moments!
Despite my easy-going attitude towards lyrics, there’s one particular song that raises my hackles every time it comes on (which, unfortunately, seems to be way too often).
“Gonna wear that dress you like, skin-tight
Do my hair up real, real nice
And syncopate my skin to your heart beating
‘Cause I just wanna look good for you, good for you…”
– “Good for You”
