The 2014 Thanksgiving Initiative started three years ago with just a few families. Initially, there were a handful of mothers who openly shared their struggles to afford Thanksgiving meals, and a small group of readers stepped in to lend a hand. Our goal wasn’t to change the world; we simply wanted to brighten the holiday for one family.
Then, something beautiful happened. More families reached out with their challenges, while even more stepped forward to contribute, donating anywhere from a dollar to hundreds. As a result, over four hundred families enjoyed Thanksgiving dinners they might have missed, leading to the formation of our charitable organization, now recognized as a 501(c)3.
Every day, we celebrate diverse perspectives from mothers across the globe. Beneath our differences lies a universal bond: the instinctual love of a mother who desires to nurture her children. This essence is what brings our community together. To date, the Initiative has helped over 4,500 families, and last year alone, we received 2,765 requests for assistance—and we were able to fulfill every single one!
