Parenting can be a wild ride, especially when it comes to mealtime! Here are 25 reasons why my six-year-old won’t touch that plate of food:
- There’s something green on it – instant no-go.
- He decided he no longer likes that – effective immediately!
- He’s convinced it could make him hurl.
- The food seems to be giving him the stink eye.
- It’s too fancy for his liking.
- It doesn’t match his mental image of what it should look like.
- His tummy is terrified of anything red.
- It might cause a tooth to fall out – you never know!
- Someone once said it was bad, so that’s that.
- It could be spicy, and he might start coughing.
- It’s definitely not ice cream.
- It’s too warm, and that’s unacceptable.
- Now it’s too cold? No thanks!
- Since he’s never tried it, what if he’s allergic?
- All he really wants is a classic peanut butter sandwich.
- It’s not on his special plate – big mistake!
- Wait, it came from the garden? In dirt?
- The dessert doesn’t look appealing, so why bother with dinner?
- The dog seems more interested in it than he is.
- It looked better last time, that’s for sure.
- It has a funny smell – nope!
- His food tummy is full, but only his dessert tummy is empty.
- It’s too mushy for his refined palate.
- It’s too crunchy – what a disaster!
- It used to be alive? Yikes!

In summary, mealtime with a six-year-old can feel like navigating a minefield of preferences and whims. From the color of the food to its temperature, there’s a lot to consider. But hey, at least it keeps things interesting!
