Hey there, wonderful community! I have a little confession—I had my doubts. In the weeks leading up to our Thanksgiving Initiative, I was in a state of constant anxiety, fearing we wouldn’t raise enough funds to support those in need. With so many worthy causes out there and tough times hitting many families, it felt overwhelming.
Despite a steady stream of donations, the requests for assistance came pouring in faster than we could manage. I began drafting apology emails, facing the reality that we might not be able to help everyone who reached out. I just didn’t think it was possible…
But guess what? We pulled it off! We raised a whopping $114,516 in under a month. That means 2,152 families can now enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without the stress of how to afford it. WE DID IT!
A huge thank you to every single person who contributed, whether through donations or by spreading the word. Your belief in this community and your willingness to make a difference truly made an impact. You should be receiving an email soon with information about “your” family. If you haven’t seen anything by November 21 (for tax records too!), please check your spam folder or reach out to us for assistance.
Special thanks to our partners who made this possible! InteliSpend Prepaid Solutions made gift card distribution seamless, and we couldn’t be more grateful. A shoutout to Nehemiah Manufacturing Co. for their outstanding efforts on social media. They really went above and beyond! Also, thank you to WhatsUpMoms for crafting the most fantastic book trailer ever, with proceeds going to our initiative. And a big thank you to Glennon Melton’s non-profit, Together Rising, for their incredible support. If you missed out on this project, be sure to check out their amazing Holiday Hands initiative.
I want to take a moment for personal thanks: my co-authors from the “Mom’s Guide to Surviving the Holidays” who generously donated their book profits to this cause. You are all inspiring! A round of applause for Callie, Sharon, Kristin, and Jessica who manage our message boards and rallied the community to contribute. Thank you, Samantha, for helping me run everything smoothly during October and November. A shoutout to Charisse and Cris, who initiated this whole movement, as well as Julie, who kept things organized. And finally, my heartfelt thanks to Mikki and Love, who have been dedicated to making Thanksgiving special for families in need.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your generosity, support, and belief in this project, especially when I was filled with doubt. Here’s to a joyful Thanksgiving for all of us!
