Why I Cherish My Body

Look at that belly over there? It still holds the shape from nurturing a 9lb 2oz baby for a full 40 weeks.

Check out those stretch marks? They’re the marks of my journey in bringing three little humans into this world.

See those fingers? They’re a bit swollen from carrying extra fluid while expecting my last child.

And that fold between my hip and stomach? That’s a new addition. My firstborn was 8lbs 8oz, and the next two were a hefty 9lbs 2oz. It wasn’t there before, but it stands as a beautiful testament to the 30 months where I had two hearts beating inside me.

Take a look at that baby grinning at me. Isn’t it something? I grew him, loved him, and nurtured him with my very own body. My body has been the vessel for six lives and has birthed three wonderful, healthy babies. It expanded and adapted, providing nourishment to each one, helping them grow into thriving children. My body is like a canvas, illustrating the miraculous journey of creating three precious lives.

Isn’t it incredible? My body?

From this moment forward, I refuse to view my body with disdain. I won’t fixate on my soft belly, the stretch marks on my thighs, the way my once-perky breasts have changed, or how my underwear digs into my hips. Those are no longer flaws in my eyes.

Instead, I choose to regard my body with reverence, recognizing it as the awe-inspiring miracle that it truly is. I mean, let’s be real:

I grow human beings.
