6 Times I Nailed Fatherhood (or at Least Didn’t Mess It Up!)

Sometimes, I find myself feeling a bit out of my league compared to the supermoms around me. With my wife and our amazing nanny, it’s like I’m living in a house of superheroes. There have definitely been moments when I’ve dropped the ball as a dad—like forgetting to pack milk for the baby or leaving the diapers behind. But hey, I’ve learned to take it all in stride. That said, I’ve also had some victories as a father. Here are six times I didn’t completely flop.

1. Mastering the Milk Bottle

I can’t explain why warming a bottle felt like rocket science during that first week home with my baby, but it was either ice-cold or scalding hot. The first time I got it just right at midnight? Instant fist pump! I felt like I’d conquered a major life challenge.

2. Pants? Check!

Look at my little one—fully dressed and sporting pants! She was snug and ready for any weather, thanks to me. I’ll admit, there have been times I’ve taken her out without pants (parenting is wild like that), but this time, I nailed it. No judgment, please!

3. Girls’ Night Success

When my wife needed a night out with the girls, I stepped up as the loving husband and handled the baby solo. And guess what? The house didn’t burn down, the baby was safe, and I even managed to keep everything in one piece. I’d say that’s a major win!

4. Introducing Good Tunes

I’m on a mission to ensure my daughter appreciates great music. The first time I played some Otis Redding for her, I felt like a rockstar dad. This house will be filled with good vibes, not the latest pop nonsense. No Miley in this home, thank you very much!

5. Surviving the Car Ride

The first time I drove with her in the back seat, I was a bundle of nerves. I felt like every driver on the road was a maniac! But I kept my cool, merged safely, and got her home without a hitch. Not too shabby, right?

6. Beating Mom to the Baby Monitor

There have been a few occasions where I woke up before my wife did when our daughter cried. It’s a rare feat, but I couldn’t help but feel a little triumphant. But I didn’t wake her up to brag—mom deserves her sleep!

So far, I think I’m doing alright as a dad. My baby is thriving, our house is mostly intact, she’s getting a taste of good music, and most of the time, she leaves the house properly dressed. They say being a father means embracing imperfection and striving to improve, so I guess I’m on the right track.
