Last year, my friend Greg was brought down by pneumonia. He was feverish, achy, and completely drained, making him one miserable fellow. As the doctor laid out his recovery plan, he whimpered, “Why me? I have to sleep alone? I have to stay home? I can’t even have my kids around? What did I do to deserve this?”
Fast forward to yesterday, and guess who’s now in the same boat? Yep, yours truly! After a couple of days feeling like I’d been run over by a truck, I found myself gasping for air, which was enough motivation to drag me to Urgent Care. After a round of x-rays and blood tests, my doctor delivered some stern directives: “Rest as much as you can. No cuddling with your husband or kids. Keep your food and drinks to yourself. Enjoy long steam showers. Limit your talking. Nap often. Oh, and just a heads up, the Tylenol with Codeine might make you a bit wobbly.”
As he wrapped up, he asked, “Any questions?” With a grin, I responded, “Oh, I’ve got one! Why me? Seriously, what did I do to earn this?!”
