Hey there! I’m excited to share some fun updates from our journey. A few weeks back, we officially unveiled The Mid—a platform dedicated to those navigating the unpredictable yet thrilling middle stages of life. You know, juggling work, family, and that constant hustle while trying to find joy in the chaos. Think of it as a blend of humor, nostalgia, useful information, and a supportive community. We’re just getting warmed up!
Today, I’m thrilled to introduce our umbrella company, Some Spider, which is behind The Mid. It’s been quite the adventure since its launch last fall!
Exciting New Leadership
First off, let me announce that we’ve brought on board Max Dawson as our Chief Operating Officer and President. Max comes to us fresh from leading digital initiatives at a prominent media outlet (let’s just say, it’s one of the most respected names in journalism). With over a decade of experience, he’s exceptionally bright, highly competitive, and, most importantly, remains grounded and approachable. At Some Spider, we hold those values close as we expand our team.
Max will be an essential ally as we work to rapidly grow our organization and achieve our mission, which is built on three key pillars:
- Create and expand beloved content and community platforms that inspire, inform, entertain, and support millions of people;
- Develop a strong operational backbone and business model ensuring lasting success;
- Foster a fun and fulfilling workplace for our team.
Balancing all three of these goals can be tricky, as many have pointed out, but we’re committed to making it happen. At my previous venture, we had a mantra: “find a way”—and that’s exactly the spirit we’ll embrace here.
Exciting Acquisitions
On that note, I’m excited to share that we’ve just acquired Home Insemination Kit, a quirky and beloved parenting site that has resonated with countless parents. I was introduced to its founder, Alex Rivers, and I was incredibly impressed. What Alex has achieved with a small team and limited resources is nothing short of remarkable. She will continue to manage Home Insemination Kit independently while benefiting from our additional support.
And guess what? We have even more plans on the horizon! Stay tuned for the upcoming launch of our third site, along with the revamped version of cafe.com, later this year.
