Ashley Graham is on a roll! This year, she made history as the first plus-size model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, launched her own lingerie line at New York Fashion Week, and confidently flaunted her stunning curves—cellulite and all. Seriously, we couldn’t adore her any more.
Now, in an exciting twist, she has her very own Barbie doll that mirrors her body measurements! The unveiling happened during Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards, and let me tell you, it was a moment.
Check out this fierce doll! Bold cat eyes? Absolutely. Statement hoops? You bet. And actual hips that touch? You better believe it! This is a first for the iconic Barbie brand.
I mean, who wouldn’t want this doll? Okay, maybe it’s more about what my daughter wants—but let’s be real, I want it too! Sadly, this is a one-off collectible, not up for sale. However, the buzz it’s generating might just persuade Mattel to change their minds.
Graham shared with The Huffington Post her thoughts on growing up without a Barbie that looked like her: “I never thought I didn’t look like her; I just thought she was perfect. If I had a doll that was my size, I would have seen my body as normal.”
She had one major demand for her doll, though: “If her thighs don’t touch, she’s not authentic.” I couldn’t agree more. Barbie has always been a canvas for our dreams, but imagine having a doll that truly reflects a curvy figure! This year, Mattel has introduced a variety of body shapes and skin tones for Barbies, making her more relatable than ever.
“We need to show girls that their shape doesn’t define them,” said Tanya Missad, Mattel’s Director of Consumer Insights. “Anything is possible.”
If anything is possible, let’s make this Ashley Graham doll available for everyone to buy, ASAP!
