Get ready for some fun at Chuck E. Cheese’s! The beloved pizza place has teamed up with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) to roll out “Sensory Sensitive Sundays” aimed at creating a welcoming space for children on the autism spectrum. Starting at their Attleboro, Massachusetts location, these special events will take place on the first Sunday of every month, ensuring that families can enjoy games and pizza in a calm and understanding atmosphere.
“We’re thrilled to offer sensory-sensitive families a chance to enjoy their favorite activities in a safe environment,” shared Jenna McCoy, manager at Chuck E. Cheese’s Attleboro, in a press release. The inaugural event kicked off on November 6, running from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the next gathering scheduled for December 4.
But that’s not all! Chuck E. Cheese’s in Glen Burnie, Maryland, is also hosting similar events on the second Sunday of each month. “I bring my own kids to our sensory days. It’s a chance for both our children and us parents to relax and connect with others who get it,” said Tom Richards, assistant manager there. “Our staff is specially trained to support this experience, and it’s heartwarming to see everyone enjoying each other’s company.”
Chuck E. Cheese joins a growing list of businesses that cater to the unique needs of children with autism. Just last month, Toys “R” Us announced it would host quiet shopping hours for families in both the U.S. and the U.K., making holiday shopping a little less stressful.
