What “Voting With Your Vagina” Truly Signifies

As November 8 approaches, we stand at a pivotal moment where our choices will shape the future for ourselves and our children. Yet, every time I share something political, I hear the same refrain:

  • “Stick to parenting, mom blogger.”
  • “Politics and kids? No way!”
  • “I prefer to vote with my brain, not my vagina, thank you.”
  • “Just stop. You’re making me uncomfortable about that candidate I like, who isn’t exactly a great person.”

To all the lovely commenters out there, let’s get real. Politics is deeply intertwined with parenting. With issues like paid maternity leave, school funding, women’s wages, body autonomy, immigration, and gun control hanging in the balance, politics is undeniably a parenting issue. This is not open for discussion. Period.

The phrase “Vote With Your Vagina” serves to highlight that women’s voices and family matters are integral to society. If the word “vagina” unsettles you, maybe that’s a good thing. It boldly states that we, as women, are more than our anatomy; our voices are powerful, and we will use them.

Take, for instance, Emily Carter. She believes that Hillary Clinton represents the interests of women and mothers. It’s no surprise that many see mothers as Donald Trump’s worst nightmare. Why? Because we perceive him as a threat to our children’s futures. And when it comes to our kids, mama bears don’t back down.

We will not remain silent. We will stand up for our children. We will not allow our daughters to accept the derogatory remarks made about women. We will fight for our rights over our bodies. We will demand equal pay. We will advocate for policies that ensure our families are safe. We will push for quality education for all children, regardless of their race. We will continue to speak up.

So, Donald Trump, go ahead and dismiss us. Call breastfeeding “disgusting,” insult our military families, and reduce us to mere body parts. Just keep in mind that women represent over half the electoral votes, typically vote more than men, and lean towards Democratic candidates. We aren’t backing Hillary just because she’s a woman; we’re supporting her because she aligns with our values as women.

And let’s be clear: America is already great.
