A mom from upstate New York turned her son’s birthday dreams into reality by throwing him a Target-themed party—at Target itself! Yes, you read that right.
Kelsey Green’s son, Ben, has been a die-hard Target fan since he was a little tot. She tells Home Insemination Kit, “From the moment we walked into the store, Ben loved jumping on the big red balls and cruising around in those oversized red shopping carts. To make shopping easier, he would always pick a toy from the dollar section or grab a snack. Lately, he’s obsessed with Icees. Target has always stocked his favorite toys, so no matter his current obsession, Target has it all.”
And let’s be honest, what parent doesn’t relate? Target is a wonderland of everything you could ever need—or suddenly think you need.
So, when Ben’s seventh birthday approached, Kelsey knew what to do: host a Target-themed birthday bash. She shared the delightful photos from the event on Facebook, and they’re simply amazing.
First, she had to get permission since Target doesn’t usually host birthday parties. Who wouldn’t want to capitalize on such a gold mine? “The manager was super chill about it—she said as long as we weren’t disruptive, we could go ahead.”
Next on the agenda were the invitations, which caught other parents off guard. “Many had no idea that Target did parties,” Kelsey explained. “I told them they don’t; we were just crashing the place.” Target, are you taking notes? This could be a huge market!
Once the venue was secured, Kelsey was a little nervous, but the Target staff was on board. “The team at Target was phenomenal! The manager and the supervisor welcomed us with open arms. They were genuinely excited for the party, and their staff was all informed.”
The guests were asked to don Target’s signature khakis and red shirts, which is a no-no when shopping but totally fitting for this special occasion.
The festivities primarily took place in the café, where guests munched on addictive popcorn while creating their own Target name tags (I need one of those!).
Of course, Ben had to get his face painted with Target’s iconic bulls-eye. And what’s a birthday party without a scavenger hunt? The kids followed clues to find hidden treasures around the store, with Target stickers and Icees as prizes. Party favors? Naturally, they came from the dollar section.
Afterward, Ben enjoyed a uniquely adorable Target cake and unwrapped gifts. Kelsey noted, “Planning this party was a breeze. It lasted just an hour and a half, with no cleanup at home, and all food, except for the cake, was from the café.”
Let’s make sure this story goes viral so that Target headquarters considers making these parties an official offering. I mean, who wouldn’t want to celebrate their kid’s birthday and have time for some shopping afterward? Count us in!
In the end, Kelsey said it was everything they dreamed of. Ben felt “super special” for being the first-ever Target birthday boy, and honestly, he deserves it. This could be the next big thing, and he’s got the first-mover advantage!
Happy Birthday, Ben!
