Let’s be honest: life as a toddler can be quite challenging. While they may not express themselves very clearly, their struggles are real. From mastering potty training to taking a bath or getting dressed, these little ones grapple with the basics. Yet, they also live in a bubble of luxury that’s hard to ignore. If my little one decides she doesn’t want to walk, I’ll just carry her — now that’s service! But despite all this pampering, she sure knows how to complain. So, I thought it’d be fun to dive into her world and share some of the First World problems that toddlers face.

  1. I couldn’t escape the high chair, so I launched a waffle at my brother’s head.
  2. I craved a Popsicle, but my mouth was full of cereal, which meant I had to spit it out — now I’m all wet. Change me.
  3. My cheese slice broke, and Mom wouldn’t give me a new one.
  4. My diaper needed changing, and I had to resist the temptation to eat it.
  5. Dad was busy doing the dishes, so I had to soothe myself.
  6. I played with dog poop, and now Mom insists I wash my hands.
  7. I vomited on myself, and no one will give me a hug.
  8. I took off my shoes at the park because I don’t like them, and now I have a splinter. Kiss my feet.
  9. Mom wouldn’t stop at McDonald’s, so I had to settle for an organic granola bar.
  10. Dora the Explorer is no longer on Netflix, so I had to switch to Blue’s Clues.
  11. I had a pacifier in my mouth and one in each hand, but I still needed the one on the table.
  12. I was forced to wear pants to the store.
  13. Mom won’t let me play inside the new dishwasher, so I threw my sippy cup at the TV.
  14. I had to undress for my bath.
  15. My Peppa Pig life jacket makes me float every time we hit the beach.
  16. I can’t just use the pet door whenever I want.
  17. Mom wouldn’t let me lick the sunscreen off my arms, even though it smelled so good.
  18. I have to sleep in the Peppa Pig bed I chose for my birthday.
  19. The dog kicked me out of the dog bed.
  20. Mom was busy, so Dad had to hold me.

Toddlers are like living embodiments of First World problems. They often complain about the tiniest inconveniences and feel as if the world is against them, even when their lives are pretty sweet. This is the most challenging aspect of raising young kids; they are such raw beings that teaching them everything — and I mean everything — is essential. The lessons might be simple, but they are crucial. After all, no parent wants an adult who acts like a toddler.
