Imagine being unable to provide diapers for your little one. Sadly, in the U.S. today, one in three families faces this challenge. Yes, one in three.
“Diaper need” refers to the lack of adequate diapers to keep a child clean, dry, and healthy. Without enough diapers, children can’t join early childhood education programs, and without childcare, parents may struggle to work. Most childcare facilities require parents to supply a sufficient amount of diapers each day, creating a significant issue — but it’s one we all have the power to help resolve.
Huggies has been tackling diaper need for years. Since 2010, they have partnered with the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) and donated over 200 million diapers and wipes. To celebrate Diaper Need Awareness Week, they’ve made it simpler for all of us to contribute.
If you use Huggies diapers, you might already have the Huggies Rewards app. If not, it’s easy and free to download! Once you have the app, head to “Redeem Points” and choose the option to “Donate diapers to babies in need.” Your reward points can directly support families in need.
You can also help with just a tweet! This week, every time you use the hashtag #NoBabyUnhugged, Huggies will donate diapers to Baby2Baby, a partner of the NDBN.
The National Diaper Need Network provides numerous resources for those looking to assist others. Just spreading the word can make a huge impact. Do you know any moms whose little ones have outgrown their diapers? You can donate any surplus to a local diaper bank, even if the package is partially open, as long as the diapers are in their original packaging. Check out the National Diaper Bank Network to find a nearby drop-off location. Sharing this info in your mommy groups on Facebook can really help raise awareness — many moms don’t realize they can donate opened packages.
It only takes one small act of kindness to create a ripple of hope. Your contributions, no matter how small, can collectively make a big difference, and it’s never been easier to lend a hand.
