I may not know what a toddler’s diet looks like or how a typical bedtime routine unfolds. I haven’t experienced the sound of “mom” echoing through my home dozens of times an hour, nor do I know the joy of a tiny hand holding mine. I can’t say I’ve ever had crayon drawings adorning my refrigerator or spent evenings reading stories to a curious little one.
I don’t understand the worry that grips you every time your child steps outside, nor the instinct to shield them from the world’s dangers or the task of wiping away their tears. I’ve never juggled soccer practices, meals, laundry, doctors’ visits, and a career. I haven’t survived on two hours of sleep due to imaginary monsters lurking under the bed. I’ve never faced the tough questions about Santa Claus or taught a child the importance of kindness.
As a woman without children, I might lack firsthand experience in motherhood, but there is one thing I know for sure: I deeply respect all of you navigating the challenges of being a mom.
I see the joy in your eyes as you talk about your children, even on those tough days when frustration threatens to take over. Your faces light up when you share their achievements or funny moments. I witness the love and concern you pour into ensuring you’re doing everything right, hoping that in the end, it all turns out well.
Your devotion and desire to excel as mothers is truly inspiring. Many of you grapple with feelings of judgment, worrying that others are watching your every move through a critical lens. Social media can amplify those insecurities, making it feel as if every mistake is scrutinized.
But as an outsider, I want to assure you that my gaze is filled with admiration. When you share how you navigate your day or recount those hilariously awkward moments, I’m not judging; I’m in awe of your ability to handle it all with grace, a smile, and a dash of humor.
While our lives may be different and there’s so much I have yet to experience, I want to acknowledge each of you mothers out there. You might only see the moments of struggle and doubt, but from where I stand, I see resilient women shaping the future one little hand at a time. You’re doing an incredible job.
