Dudeoir photography is taking the world by storm, and the latest project, “The Charming Woodsman,” is a delightful addition to this growing trend. This year is all about playful and cheeky dudeoir photoshoots, and we’re absolutely here for it!
It seems that the internet just can’t get enough of rugged, bearded men frolicking in their skivvies. Recently, a photographer took a creative spin on the dudeoir genre, resulting in a series of captivating images that will be transformed into a calendar to support a nonprofit dedicated to helping children in distress.
Photographer Jake Peterson of Forest Light Photography teamed up with his friend Ben for this fun-filled shoot in the woods, all in the name of charity. The proceeds from the calendar will aid the organization, Books to the Rescue, which provides comfort items like books and toys to children facing traumatic situations. This nonprofit was founded by Jake’s partner, Sarah. “Even if first responders lack a social work background, it doesn’t take much to sit down with a child and read a book,” Sarah explains. “This simple act can foster connections, reduce anxiety, and help ease the emotional toll on kids.”
Jake and Ben decided to gear up with some tools and venture into the forest to support Sarah’s incredible mission. And the results are nothing short of fantastic! In fact, Ben has embraced a new persona: The Charming Woodsman.
“I’ve spent two decades working with children who have faced trauma in one capacity or another,” Sarah, an educator with experience in child behavioral health, shares. “After years of trying to heal the aftermath, I wanted to take action before things escalated.” She launched Books to the Rescue in Yavapai County, Arizona, an area with a significant number of children in need, making it the largest county in the state.
