Dear Educator,

As I navigate the array of kindergarten registration forms, my thoughts are with you. My little one, whom I affectionately call my “baby,” is set to start her journey in your classroom this coming fall. She refers to it as the “big school,” and her excitement is palpable. Meanwhile, I find myself grappling with feelings of sadness and apprehension.

A Significant Milestone

Entering kindergarten represents a significant milestone. While it’s bittersweet to witness my daughter growing up so rapidly, I am filled with pride and anticipation for her as she embarks on this new chapter. She will engage in activities such as art and music, make new friends in our neighborhood, and experience playdates that may flourish from those connections. This environment will foster her self-confidence and provide her with the joy of discovering new skills under your guidance. These experiences are truly invaluable.

My Concerns

However, I must express my concerns. It feels as though I am allowing my heart to step outside and venture into that “big school” without my protection. The vulnerability of this transition is overwhelming. I trust that you will be a supportive presence for her, and I am grateful for that. Since I cannot always be there, I would like to share a few important notes.

Important Notes

  • Please understand that when she says, “Please help you,” she is actually asking, “Please help me.” We are actively working on this language development.
  • If she refers to her father and me by our first names, please don’t be alarmed; we are indeed her parents, and it’s simply a quirk of hers.
  • If she seems hesitant to use the restroom, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in encouraging her, as I would hate for her to feel embarrassed.
  • Though she may not be as vocal as her peers, she is observant and engaged, so please ensure she feels included.
  • It would mean the world to me if you could help her find a lunch companion, as I want to minimize any feelings of isolation.

Remember, while she is just one of many in your class, she is my only daughter.

Thank You

I recognize the challenges of your role; it is among the most vital professions. I will be placing my “heart” in your care for over six hours daily starting in September. Thank you in advance for the kindness and attention you will extend to her.

Warm regards,

Mom of Your Future Student
