It’s a well-worn saying, but like many clichés, it carries a hint of truth.
So, here it goes: It’s not you; it’s me.
I recognize your efforts. Every month, countless articles in various women’s lifestyle publications highlight your numerous benefits—impressive indeed. You’ve earned the title of a superfood, which is a rare distinction reserved for select foods believed to possess extraordinary health properties. (Although technically, “superfood” is more of a marketing term than a scientific designation, but I digress.)
Yogurt, it saddens me to say this, but I must be honest. You’ve put forth diligent attempts to win me over, offering a range of brands, types, and flavors.
Fage. Chobani. Dannon Oikos. Stonyfield. Yoplait Greek. There’s classic, 2%, 0%, with mix-ins, and without. I’ve sampled them all. Despite your inventive approaches, none seems to align with my preferences.
Unfortunately, no matter which brand or flavor I try, the experience results in an unpleasant reaction for me—one that often leads to nausea. To my senses, your aroma and flavor evoke an unpleasant association.
As previously mentioned, this really is about my individual tastes, not a reflection of your worth. So please don’t take it personally. You are adored by many, and I doubt you’ll even notice my absence.
Rest assured, I’ll be fine. It turns out that Dannon Fruit on the Bottom suits my palate much better. I’ve always enjoyed mixing in my berries.
Farewell,
Julia
