Attention all adventurous spirits contemplating your packing list for Camp Tumbleweed! Are you overwhelmed by the thought of a substantial shopping spree at your local retailer? What if there was a simpler approach to packing that didn’t involve complex calculations regarding laundry bags? Imagine if you could just focus on what to bring for a delightful grown-up camp experience instead.
Clothing Essentials
Feel free to pack your favorite swimsuits if they suit your style or opt for loose caftans for comfort. Regardless of your choice, it’s advisable to wear something that provides adequate coverage, especially from potential irritants like chiggers. Additionally, please maintain cleanliness in your attire. While going without clothes is an option for some, hygiene should always be a priority; we recommend reserving any health-related visits for genuine emergencies.
In the wake of the infamous Tory Burch incident in 2012, we kindly request minimal logo displays on clothing. If socks are not your preference, that’s perfectly acceptable, but be aware that sharing your blister woes with fellow campers may not be well-received.
Footwear
While the most fashionable flip-flops may be a treat for your pedicure, a stubbed toe could lead you to rummage through a collection of mismatched footwear. Remember, your stylish sandals and other eco-friendly options can serve as excellent shower shoes, helping to prevent athlete’s foot.
Toiletries
Personal hygiene is crucial, though excessive hair products are discouraged at grown-up camp. Embrace your natural look—curly, straight, or otherwise. Most scented products will not be permitted, so if you’re unsure about what’s acceptable, please consult with our staff. Electric toothbrushes and other battery-powered devices may not be accommodated, but with proper documentation, certain personal items can be recharged at the clinic.
Bedding
While your luxurious sheets may be appealing, we cannot guarantee their durability in our camp’s washing machines. Our platform tents provide a comfortable sleeping arrangement, but bringing a tarp is advisable for various uses, such as a rain poncho or a makeshift mattress protector. Be prepared to shake out your anti-dust-mite pillows regularly to avoid any unwanted critters.
Outdoor Considerations
Please take care of your high-end sunblock and store it securely, as camp staff cannot be held responsible for any lost or damaged items. Identifying local plant life can enhance your culinary experience, so pack a guidebook, but be cautious of mushrooms. Our kitchen may not stock kale, but we do have chia seeds available to elevate your snack game.
Entertainment Options
Leave your Apple Watch behind, as Wi-Fi and cell service will be nonexistent. However, if you’re holding onto it for fitness tracking, that’s entirely your choice. All games, including Cards Against Humanity, will be screened for compliance, and you’ll need to provide your own fresh fruit for any premixed beverages.
Additional Guidelines
While you are welcome to bring devices, be aware that connectivity will end beyond the camp’s boundaries. This means no e-readers unless they are charged, and no streaming services. If this limitation becomes a concern, please consult our medical staff. Funds for camp store purchases will be managed directly by the camp, and sharing funds among campers is strictly prohibited. Cameras are not allowed, but our new arts-and-crafts class will teach you how to create artistic memories.
Prohibited Items
For the safety of all, please refrain from bringing any weapons, including craft supplies that could cause harm. While pets are not permitted, service animals are welcome. Medications without prescriptions will not be allowed, although exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
