Parenting Insights
It appears I have a penchant for embracing challenges. My children frequently request to celebrate their birthdays at venues like bowling alleys, trampoline parks, museums, or aquariums. Yet, each time I manage to persuade them that hosting a party at home would be far more enjoyable and unique. Just as I convince myself of this notion, they enthusiastically join in. What is my dilemma? There’s a good reason why many opt for those familiar locations: they’re hassle-free. I’ve learned the hard way that hosting at home leads to chaos, a mess, and a level of stress that outweighs the fun. Why can’t I seem to hold onto that lesson?
Thus, we embarked on a spa-themed gathering at home. Fourteen of Mia’s closest friends arrived in their pajamas, brimming with excitement and energy. We painted 140 nails, applied avocado masks to 140 faces, and styled 14 heads of hair with brushes, braids, and barrettes (yes, I’ve turned that into a verb). It was truly delightful to engage in these activities, capturing the joy of having daughters and indulging in these special moments.
However, next year? I envision enjoying that experience at a venue where I won’t have to shoulder the planning, cooking, and cleaning responsibilities. Or more likely, you’ll find yourself reading a similar post from me again.

In summary, while hosting a spa gathering at home can be a fun and memorable experience, the effort and mess involved often lead to reconsideration for future events. Next time, I may just opt for the ease of an external venue, allowing me to enjoy the festivities without the added stress.
