I want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work you put in every day for our family. You brave the outside world, facing challenges and engaging with people, while I stay home with the kids and manage my work. I sincerely appreciate your dedication and the long hours you invest to provide for us. Thank you for that.
However, there’s one small request I need to make: could you please turn off your alarm clock in the morning? Seriously.
I know you’re tired. We both are. Sleep has been elusive since the kids arrived, and I understand that you’re feeling the effects. But let’s be clear, your late-night binge-watching sessions and that fourth glass of water before bed are not my responsibility. It’s not my fault that you’re dragging yourself out of bed while I’m left to deal with the aftermath of your snooze button habit.
I can tolerate the alarm going off once; it’s the repeated blaring that drives me up the wall. When it goes off for the third or fourth time, I’m filled with a rage that keeps me awake for days. And when I finally get a precious moment of peace, the sound of classic rock blaring from your side of the bed shatters it.
Let’s not forget our kids. They have a knack for climbing into bed with us, and when they wake up too early, they’re just as grumpy as I am. Your inability to rise at the first alarm means they wake me up too, and then we’re all left in a cranky mood while you go off to work.
Do you realize how much sleep you’re sacrificing? If you’re hitting snooze for an extra 40 minutes, just set your alarm later and enjoy those extra zzz’s. I’m not your personal wake-up service, and I’m certainly not here to provide gentle nudges to get you out of bed. I’m just a tired mom who hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in years, hoping you can take charge of your own wake-up routine.
You’ll feel better for it. Trust me, we all will. So, if you care about my sanity and the well-being of our little ones, please figure it out and stop hitting that snooze button over and over again. Thanks, darling!
