Imagine the difference between a bucket list crafted by an adult versus one created by a child. One young girl, an eleven-year-old named Lily, has put together a wonderfully unique and quirky list of aspirations that is both amusing and surprisingly relatable for parents. Her brother, Mike, stumbled upon her eccentric bucket list and, in the spirit of 2023, shared it on Twitter for the world to see.
Mike mused, “What on earth is she thinking?” and honestly, we can’t help but feel a little puzzled ourselves. Some of her ambitions are delightfully innocent, like her desire to cuddle a sloth or a flamingo, while others raise an eyebrow.
Lily kicks off her list with the bold statement that she wants to “consume a hammerhead shark, snake, and bear.” Now that’s a twist! She then expresses her wish to “obtain a sign that says something in another language, and on April 15, 2025, I will translate it.” Is she channeling her inner fortune teller? Does she possess some secret knowledge of Google Translate? And why the two-year wait? The questions abound!
Next on her list is the intriguing goal of trying “Ariel silks.” After a bit of research, we discovered she means the stunning aerial arts, not embarking on a Disney princess journey. Clearly, she has ambitions that stretch into the circus realm.
But as we progress through her list, we start to notice a distinct shift toward what can only be described as “mom goals.” Her plans include “sitting in an empty room for an hour” and indulging in “10 Taco Bell Dorito Tacos.” Now that sounds like a mini-vacation for many tired parents! Silence, solitude, and tacos—a trifecta of bliss.
Not just content with a leisurely Taco Bell experience, Lily also aspires to win a “Taco Bell Dorito Taco eating contest.” Go big or go home, right? After her taco feast, she clearly recognizes the need for rest, as her eighth goal is to “stay asleep for 24 hours.” Lily, can you please be our life coach?
Her final aspiration (and my personal favorite) is to pet a cheetah, because why not? While most girls might be satisfied with simple kitten playtime, Lily is aiming for the extraordinary.
Mike shared with us that he’s not entirely sure if Lily comprehends the extent of her newfound internet fame. “10,000 people have expressed love for her ambitions, and I don’t think she can grasp that many people are cheering for her dreams.” Count us among the many who are excited to see what Lily will accomplish. If she manages to fulfill even half of her list, she could host a seminar on how to live life to the fullest.
