Your child is undeniably precious. I can’t help but smile at the way she gazes up at you with those adoring eyes, or how she wraps her arms around your neck when you drop her off at preschool. It’s heartwarming to see her look your way for approval while she colors, and it’s simply delightful when she blows you kisses as you and your partner head out for a date night.
But here’s a reality check: at some point, that sweet, charming little angel is going to turn on you. You may not see it coming, but trust me, those innocent days will fade. I’ve been there — the transition into the tween and teen years can be a shock to your system.
Looking back at old photos brings back memories of the times when my sons idolized me. You may find your heart aching when your daughter ridicules your outfit choice, or when your son snaps at you to mind your own business. And yes, it truly stings when your child uses profanities when you won’t shell out for a new phone screen.
