These boys hardly mention girls. It’s like they have a secret code for discussing them, often masking their conversations with video game references. If they are indeed talking about girls, it’s a top-secret mission. -

They seize every chance to engage in wrestling. I observed them mimicking moves from their favorite shows. When one of them gets hurt, they show concern, but only if there’s blood involved; otherwise, it’s all about the game. As a parent, you can either overlook it or step in. I tried refereeing, which resulted in an unexpected groin kick. -
Horror Movie Enthusiasts
These kids are fans of horror films, but some of them end up needing the lights on afterward. It’s touching to see them support each other in this way. -

Arguments break out over anything and everything—cats vs. dogs, video games, or even clothing choices. Their discussions are often filled with misinformation, like one kid claiming, “Jeans don’t let your skin breathe.” -

They boast about things that range from the trivial to the impossible. One claimed he could whip up quesadillas, while another said he could rake an entire yard in just seven minutes. -
Brand Loyalty
Their brand preferences are intense. One child would only drink Sprite, while another refused to drink anything but water—unless Mountain Dew was available (which it wasn’t, thankfully). They can even identify the brand of nacho cheese chips, and let’s just say, it wasn’t a positive review. -
Self-Policing
These boys are surprisingly self-governing. Any disputes are worked out among themselves, without needing parental intervention. -
Floor Sleeping Pros
They can fall asleep anywhere—like on the floor—without a mattress or pad, as if they were camping out in a bus depot. -
Deep Sleepers
Some of them sleep so soundly that it’s almost comical. One kid was completely oblivious to an intense game of Nerf basketball happening just above him. -
Sock Neglect
Their socks end up in every corner of the house. When I remind them about it, they often pretend I’m not speaking. -
Sock Odor
The smell of their socks is memorable—a mix of stinky cheese, Fritos, and mildew. The scent lingers long after the socks are collected and washed. -
Charming Manners
Interestingly, some boys are exceptionally polite. They compliment my cooking and thank me for being welcoming, while others leave without a word.
Navigating this unique transitional phase between boyhood and manhood is a captivating journey.
