Why Moms Should Treat Themselves to the New Elsa Makeup Palette

Last week, Disney unveiled a stunning new addition to its beauty line: the “Snow and Ice” makeup collection, featuring a range of products inspired by Elsa’s striking blue eyes and rosy lips. As a mom who dressed up as Elsa last Halloween for my kids, I must admit, that frosty queen has quite the digital makeup artist behind her. I scoured Pinterest for tutorials to replicate her look, and I was pleasantly surprised by the compliments I received from fellow parents while wrangling my sugar-high kids!

Curious about the buzz, I headed to my local Walgreens and found the e.l.f. Snow and Ice Beauty Book, alongside the Glow Eyeshadow set, Icicle Face Palette, Icing Eyeshadow & Eyeliner, and a Super Glossy Lip Shine in Kiss Pink. Oh, and I couldn’t resist a sparkly headband! All this came to around $34, offering a whopping 18 shades of eyeshadow, 2 eyeliners, 1 bronzer, 1 blush, 2 highlighters, 2 lip glosses, and an eyeshadow brush. Not too shabby for a mom’s beauty haul!

I was pleased to see that I was shopping in the women’s cosmetics section, not in some kid-centric area filled with toys and trinkets. As I placed my treasures on the counter, the cashier—likely in her late twenties—squealed with excitement over my purchase. “I used to collect the Princess Jasmine line, and it was fantastic! You’re going to love this one!” I had no idea Disney-themed makeup for adults was a trend, but she made it clear that many women are indulging in these whimsical collections for themselves.

Once home, I dove into the Beauty Book, with step-by-step instructions for creating either the “Princess” or “Snow Queen” look. I opted for the Princess, and to my delight, the colors were sheer and easy to blend. Although I typically avoid eyeliner, I followed the guide and applied a light line along my lashes. At that point, I could have easily imagined my daughter using this palette during playtime. But as I added my own mascara, I realized there was no way I could let my daughter use this high-quality makeup for her dress-up kit. This isn’t the usual overly glittery, kid-friendly makeup; this collection is crafted for grown-ups.

A quick search on YouTube revealed numerous tutorials on applying this collection, reinforcing my belief that this is one instance where us moms can enjoy some fabulous products without guilt. Sorry, kiddos! Now, I just need to find a good hiding spot for my new treasures so my daughter stays blissfully unaware of how fun my makeup drawer has become. Sharing would be the right thing to do, but I just can’t bring myself to… let it go.
